Herman grad Kai Serviss was in Big Rapids, Michigan Saturday celebrating the Ferris State football team's second straight national title. Kai is an offensive lineman and helped the Bulldogs post a 14-1 record and beat Colorado School of Mines 41-14 in the NCAA D2 championship game in December.




The Wheatley Sharks drew first blood in their Stobbs division semi-finals against Lakeshore with a 4-1 win. Kristian Pelling scored a pair of goals including the game winner at 3:19 of the second period to lead the Sharks. Josh Chauvin and Blake McNally also scored for Wheatley. Liam Sinisac scored the lone Canadiens goal. Ethan Handley made 36 saves to lead the Sharks, who host game two of the best-of-seven series Wednesday at the Wheatley Arena.



The Leamington Flyers are one game closer to making it to the Western Conference final. William VanSumeren and Ryan MacPherson each scored a pair of goals to lead the Flyers to a 6-1 win over LaSalle. Spencer Lecot scored for the Vipers late in the third on the powerplay. Anthony Ciaramitaro and Owen Holmes scored singles while Bryce Walcarius posted the shutout for the Flyers, who now have a commanding 3-0 series lead over LaSalle and can close out the series Wednesday at the Vollmer Complex.

Former Windsor Spitfire Wyatt Johnston scored his 20th goal of the season to help the Dallas Stars beat Calgary 6-5 in overtime Saturday night. Johnston has 35 points and ranks 4th in NHL rookie scoring. Matty Berniers leads the group with 49 points.

Catholic Central grad Mychal Mulder leads the NBA G-League with 121 three-pointers this season. He went 1-3 from the arc and scored 16 points Saturday night Sioux Falls' 144-119 win over the division leading Stockton Kings. The Skyforce improve to 18-12 on the season. Mulder is averaging 16.9 points per game.
