PREVIEW: Essex at Lakeshore

This is a big rivalry in the PJHL Stobbs division no matter where Essex and Lakeshore are in the standings. Right now both teams are streaking heading into Friday's contest at The Rock in Lakeshore. "It's just another game from our point of view", said Lakeshore head coach Anthony Iaquinta, whose team is 7-0 to start the season.

The 73's are on a five-game winning streak and Iaquinta feels "they're a really good team. They have so much talent over there it's unbelievable. "We're taking it game by game and we're trying to make sure we get better every day.

The Canadiens jumped out to a 6-0 lead during their first meeting this season in Essex on October 12th but held on to win 6-4. The 73's haven't lost since. "We have to go into their barn and work on our game" said forward Matt Smith. "We got the talent. We've got such great guys both defensively and offensively. If we can put all those pieces together we should have a good game Friday".

Game time 7pm in Lakeshore.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
