Vallee and Lancers refreshed

Chantal Vallee and the Windsor Lancers women's basketball team have reunited and look strong. The Lancers beat Western 94-68 during their season opener at the St. Denis Centre in her return to the bench. Olivia Osamusali led all scorers with 24 points Windsor. She also pulled down eight rebounds. Kayah Clarke had 17 while rookie Maggie Denys dropped 14.

Vallee enters her 14th year at the helm but feels renewed after a one-year sabbatical. She coached the Hamilton Honey Badgers of the newly formed Canadian Elite Basketball league become the first woman to coach a men's professional team. Vallee has implemented some of the knowledge gained during her time away and the Lancers are excited with the new style. .

Vallee also travelled through Australia and New Zealand. She met Harriet Casey and brought her to Windsor and she looked good in her debut with the Lancers.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
