High School Basketball All Star Game

The WECSSAA girls all-star game is scheduled for November 30th at 7pm hosted by Tecumseh Vista for a second straight year. "I just enjoy having everybody come out to celebrate girls basketball." said Melanie Cardinal, head coach of the Vista Vortex.

Over 20 of the best players, as voted on by coaches, will be part of the game from all three tiers. "I think it's awesome that we get together as coaches and we can recognize talent at other schools and what they contribute to their teams." said Cardinal.

Phil and Amanda Milanis from St. Clair College and Neal Foreman and Mariah Chandler from the University of Windsor will run the benches.

There were some intense rivalries during the season and some of the players will get a chance to be teammates.

"We have a lot of talent coming out of Windsor-Essex County."

Entry fee for adults is $3, $2 for students and free for elementary students.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
