Chris Renaud threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Windsor Stars senior men's baseball team to a 6-0 win over Newmarket to repeat as provincial champions. "Feels good to win it." said Renaud. "Thankfully this time I'm gonna actually be able to go out this year."

The Stars capitalized on their eight hits scoring three runs in the third and adding four in the fourth for the win. "They showed up all weekend. Pitching was outstanding." said head coach Ron Smith whose team scored 48 runs while allowing two in five games. "Pitching was outstanding. The defence was just, they made some unbelievable plays. I can't be more proud of any team that I've had and this one here too."

Windsor advances to the national championships in Red Deer where they'll open against the Alberta champions on August 24th at 7pm. They head into the tournament as defending champs. "Never been to Red Deer." Smith said. "I don't know if I wanna have that two hour bus ride from Edmonton to Red Deer but hey, I'll take it. Another chance to represent Ontario and the City of Windsor."

When asked about having a target on their back heading in as defending champs Smith said, "Doesn't bother us at all. They love the challenge."
