Essex hands Lakeshore first loss of season

The Essex 73's used a fast start and timely goals Tuesday night to beat the Lakeshore Canadiens 6-4, "My boys worked hard today and we executed well", said head coach Danny Anger.

The 73's had over a month to reflect on their last game, a 2-1 loss at home to Amherstburg January 4th, "Last time we talked it wasn't that good of a conversation", said Anger whose team handed Lakeshore their first loss of the season.

Essex built a 6-0 lead early in the third but Lakeshore caught a wave. They scored four unanswered goals in a span of 6:17 and almost scored a fifth with over three minutes left on the clock. Captain Dylan Weston tried to bang home a Luka Mesic rebound but couldn't get it by Jakob Knowles.

Knowles, making his second start, turned away 30 shots including 15 in the third to earn his first win in Essex, "It's nice to obviously give them their first loss. It's regular season. We're going to see them next Friday night".
