Tristen Miscia continues to show he’s trending in the right direction.
The Windsor Lancers multi-eventer won the pentathlon at this weekend’s Team Challenge at the University of Windsor, leaning on strong performances across the board — especially in the field events.
“Shot put was kind of like, what saved it,” Miscia said after the meet.

Miscia picked up event wins in the long jump (6.76m), shot put (13.44m) and pole vault (4.50m), while also recording personal bests in the 60 metres (7.24 seconds) and pole vault, results that gave his overall score a boost.
“We had two PBs overall, 60m and pole vault, which definitely boost the points,” he said.
Even with the win, Miscia said the bigger takeaway was where he’s at compared to this time last season.
“It’s my second best hep, which is great coming off of last year,” he said. “At this point in the year… last year I scored like 49 at this point. So we’re definitely moving in the right direction and I know there's more left.”
While pleased with the result, Miscia knows there’s still room to improve as the season moves toward the championships. “There’s just a lot of little things that I know I need to fix,” he said. “If I can get those things to click, then I think everything will just come together.”
Originally from New Jersey, Miscia spent a year at Michigan State before bumping into the Lancers coaching staff at a meet at Saginaw Valley where he was competing unattached.
“They're like come over for Team Challenge." That was two years ago to the day I came here as an unattached athlete.” Micsia told Powerplay Sports Saturday. "I saw that they wanted me, which was something I was looking for. Kind of felt rejected from my previous school. They're very welcoming, coaching staff is great, team's great, facilities are great. I love it here."
Miscia has been swept away by Lancer pride and enjoys Lancer Corner. "Last year I won USports and everyone's coming over to me, cheering me on. That was the first time I felt like I was part of something. Lancer family. That's a real thing."
