Check out the new Lancers football locker room

The Windsor Lancers Football team has a new locker room to call home.

The football team is excited to move into their new digs. The new-look room has 1,400 more square feet of space and a total of 106 lockers. There's also a space to study, a fueling station, video review space and more. "Mike Circelli is the reason this new addition is possible." said 3rd year defensive lineman Demir Tagani. "He’s one of the greatest and genuine coaches i’ve ever came across. The guys including myself are all completely aware of how fortunate and blessed we are to have this new generational addition to our program. None of us are taking this as a reward, more so as motivation to strive for greatness as a team."

The Lancers open training camp Friday at Alumni Field. Windsor finished 4-4 last fall and clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2014. They faced the Ottawa GeeGee's but fell short in a high-scoring 43-40 game. Windsor opens the season on the road at McMaster August 26th before hosting Guelph September 3rd in their home opener. "It’s been difficult sleeping at night. I am completely obsessed with this game, I just lay there with my eyes closed visualizing my roles and responsibilities on the field." Tagani said. "I understand our potential as a unit, and i’ve never felt this mutual love as a team like i feel it with this elite group of men. This season we wish to restore hope for the people of Windsor. Go Lancers!"

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
