Hunter Lee, King Of The Ring

The 10th anniversary of the King Of The Ring boxing tournament in Boras, Sweden was a good first time for Windsor boxer Hunter Lee. The Holy Names grad received a first-round bye and had to get into gear quickly in the semi-finals against Jack Oliphant from the Hoddesdon Boxing Club in England.

"I matched up in the semis against a boxer from team Great Britain which I knew going into the tournament was going to be my toughest fight of the tournament." said Lee. "My coaches had a great game plan and I executed it perfectly winning the fight by unanimous decision 5-0." In the final Lee matched up against Swedish national champ Markus Lovberg who he described as a brawler. "I had to dig deep and make sure I used my boxing skills to secure the win."

This was Lee's first international gold medal at a tournament. He won a silver medal earlier this year at the Eindhoven Box Cup in the Netherlands. "Moving forward we look to keep this momentum moving by watching the tape and continuing to improve what we need to improve. 2023 is a very important year as it is the Olympic qualifications"
