Lancers feel fresh heading into Laurier

The bye week came at the perfect time for the Windsor Lancers football team. "It was much needed." said defensive back Devin Veresuk who is third in the OUA with 28 solo tackles. "At a crucial time before a huge game too so we got to rest up."

The Lancers suffered their first loss of the season September 30th against Western after starting the season 5-0. Windsor left valuable points on their field and led the contest through three quarters before Western pulled out a 21-10 victory. "What ever happened is gone. Short term memory." Veresuk said with a big smile.

Players looked refreshed at practice after taking advantage of some free time to decompress, catch up on school work and heal up. "A couple of days away from all the noise was really good really for everyone." said quarterback Danny Skelton.

Coming out of the bye week Windsor will get a boost on offense with the return of running back Joey Zorn who was injured and missed the last two games. He'll help the Lancers regain its identity as a running team. They are currently 5th in the OUA averaging 200.5 yards per game. "Big part of our offence. Our MVP a year ago so having him back is gonna make a big difference." said head coach J-P Circelli. "The base stuff is there and we're going to continue to be who we are and make sure we can run the football when the passes are there make it happen."

The third-place Lancers head to Laurier for a 1pm tilt Saturday looking to get back in the won column against a Golden Hawks team that is tied for first with Western at 6-0. "I would assume they're probably just brushing us off thinking about their undefeated game against Western already so we just kinda wanna go in there and punch them in the mouth and make an impression I guess." said Veresuk.
