Law-Heese and Gravelle honoured

Updated: Mar 11

Big accolades for Windsor Lancers men's volleyball head coach James Gravelle and 4th year setter Markus Law-Heese. Gravelle earned OUA Head Coach of the Year after leading the Lancers to a program-best 18-2 record and the top seed in the league. They were ranked in the USports Top-10 all season. This is Gravelle second nod as coach of the year, with his first coming during the 2022-23 season when the Lancers made it to the OUA final before losing to McMaster in straight sets.

Law-Heese was also named a First Team All-Star while QUintin Greenidge and Darian Koskie made the Second Team. Gustavo Sigueira landed as a Third Team All-Star.

Windsor hosts Queen's Friday night at 7pm for the OUA championships at the Toldo Lancer Centre.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
