Lightning strikes again vs Express

The vibe at the WFCU Centre was electric but the Lightning zapped the energy out of the area with 103-97 win over the Windsor Express. "That's a championship calibre team." said head coach Bill Jones. "They want to go back to back and you can see the urgency in the way they play."

A season-high 5,432 fans attended the game including Tik Tok influencer MD Motivator.

The Express drop to 3-5 on the season with four of their losses coming at the hands of the Lightning. "I would rather play them to be able to gauge what we are and what we need in terms of personnel." Jones said.

Justin Jackson led the London offence with 21 points. Elijah Lufile came off the bench to score 20 points while pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.

Billy White led the Express for the second straight game with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Check out his 2nd half dunk.

The Express head to London hoping to finish out the mini four-game series with a win. "At the end of that we'll play them at the end where we'll know where they are and what we need to be able to match up against them." Jones said.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
