Kyelann Elliott will have a great story to tell in September when she enters her first year of high school. The 13-year old is heading on a once in a lifetime trip as an athlete at the International Children's Games in Estonia.
"I'm excited for the new opportunity to go to a new country and meeting new people." Elliott told Powerplay Sports at a recent practice with the Border City Athletics Club. She'll compete in the 100m, 100 hurdles and a relay. Elliott has ramped up her training in the days leading up to the games, which begin August 4th, and hopes to place well. "I would be super proud, let's say I came top-3. That would be like a huge moment for me. I'll probably cry."
Vienna Charisse is also focused on doing well. "Always focusing on technique, on everything just to make sure it's all good. Definitely hope top 3, top 10 at best." said Charisse who will competing in the long jump, javelin and relay.
Border City AC teammates Eliza Williams and Reece Calce are also heading to Estonia. We wish them all the luck.
