Mourning the loss of Bob Panasiuk

Bob Panasiuk, a great golfer, teacher and person has passed. The 82-year old was loved by many. Bob had a pleasant personality, was a great story teller and always shared solid advice.

Bob's accomplishments on the golf course are unrivaled by any Windsor-Essex County golfer. A 10-time Canadian Champion, Bob is a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. In 1957 at the age of 15 he became the youngest to ever compete in a sanctioned PGA tournament.

The list of accolades and achievements is long. Check out more of his exploits in a write up the Windsor-Essex County Sports Hall of Fame has posted on their website. Panasik Bob (wecshof.com)

Bob is the only Honourary Life Member at Roseland. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers to his family.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
