Saints football expect challenge from Ottawa in playoff opener

The second season begins tonight as the St. Clair Saints football team opens against the Ottawa Sooners. "They're really good offensively and defensively." said Saints QB Matt Guenette. "They have a lot of heart. They never stop. They fight til the very end."

St. Clair beat Ottawa 30-4 in mid-August but picked up some players along with way and turned into a tougher team to play. In their last five games they lost once, to the Saints by two points September 23rd. "We have to be on top of our game for sure." said Guenette

Head coach Mike Lachance says the Saints tried some things during last weekend's regular season finale against Quinte that he'll likely use tonight. "We've been building all year for this and hopefully we play our best when the real season begins. It feels good to be 8-0 but it's just a step in the process."

Game time at Acumen Stadium is 7pm.
