Reid leads Flyers to series opening win

The first period was a flash of what fans expect from this Western Conference semi-final series between Leamington and LaSalle. Rough, tough, defensive style hockey.

Then the second period happened. It was the complete opposite with defensive breakdowns and lots of goals.

"We just took in the second, you know. Got pucks in their end. Just got back to work. The goals came." said Flyers forward Hayden Reid who had a goal and two assists on the night.

LaSalle was on the receiving end of a four goal outburst as the Flyers broke open a 1-1 game and cruised to an 8-2 win at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre.

"Tough period." said Vipers captain Spencer Lecot, who scored one of the LaSalle goals. "I don't think the boys came out ready to play. Just learn from it I guess and take what we can from that and fix our mistakes for next game."

Nolan McKibbin, who scored his first playoff goal as a Flyer, expects a diffferent game Saturday night at the Vollmer Complex. "LaSalle is a completely different barn. It's tighter. They're going to be coming after us. We just gotta start at zero tomorrow."

"They won their battles but we just have to come better on Saturday." said LaSalle defenceman Shaun Horne who looks forward to playing in front of the home crowd. He feels the fans helped them in the first round against Chatham. "Hopefully on Saturday the same thing and we feed off that as well."
