Saints baseball looking to rebound

Updated: Sep 13

A shutout of the St. Clair baseball team is as rare as a blue moon. Jeryn Shortt caught his groove early on the mound and was nearly untouchable as Lambton blanked the Saints 4-0 Wednesday.

Shortt pitched a complete game one-hitter Wednesday while striking out 11.

"He'll be one of the top pitchers we'll face in the league and kept us off balance with his slider." Head coach Tristan Bouchat told Powerplay Sports. "Good to see him early in the season so we can make the adjustment for when we face him later in the season."

Kanaan Gale had the lone hit for the Saints who scored 28 runs in two wins during opening weekend at Sheridan.

"It's tough to go undefeated. We played a great team last night (Wednesday) and got to learn about ourselves and what we improve on to grow throughout the season." Bouchat said.

The Saints host Sault College Saturday 1pm and 3pm and then again on Sunday at Lacasse Park.
