Saints Steamroll Hurricanes in 68-7 Rout, Remain Unbeaten

The St. Clair College Saints football team keeps on rolling—and rolling over their opponents.

On Saturday night at Acumen Stadium, the Saints made quick work of the Hamilton Hurricanes, cruising to a dominant 68-7 victory improving to a league-best 5-0. It was another all-around performance from a team that is currently the class of the OFC.

“Hamilton has a big, physical team,” said Saints head coach Mike Lachance. “But we turned the game into a track meet. When we do that, the points pile up quickly.”

Pile up they did. MJ Doyle Marshall, Marselio Mendez, and Jayden Shallow each found the endzone twice, while Cameron St. Kitts-Park and Asher Lavoie added solo scores.

Quarterback Matthew Guenette was nearly flawless, going 19-for-25 for 316 yards and three touchdowns—bringing his league-leading total to 20 TDs on the season.

Defensively, St. Clair continued to shut things down, allowing just a single late-game touchdown. The Saints have now given up only 35 points through the season, a testament to their discipline and depth on that side of the ball.

“All three facets of the game were productive,” Lachance told Powerplay Sports. “A strong team win.”

The Saints will look to stay perfect next Saturday when they hit the road to take on the 2-3 Sault Ste. Marie Cougars. Then it’s back home to host the GTA Grizzlies on September 20th.
