St. Clair women's soccer adds to training camp

Malary Cole and Athena Done are joining the St. Clair women's soccer team.

Cole comes to Windsor from Thunder Bay where she won three high school titles, was a two-time all star and scoring champ at St. Ignatius. "After speaking with the coaches in June I knew right away that St. Clair was not only the right choice for my education but also for athletics" said the 5'3 midfielder.

Done is a St. Joseph grad who was a keeper for three season at the University of Minnesota Crookston. She was an all-city player during her high school years and already feels at home at St. Clair. "At my first practice I felt right at home and saw everything that I wanted in a team" said Done who will be taking the Pre-Service Firefighter program.

The Saints kick off the regular season September 17th at the St. Clair Sports Park's new Acumen Stadium against Fanshawe at 6pm.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
