The Hamilton Tiger-Cats chose Windsor Lancers linebacker Devin Veresuk with the 2nd overall pick in the CFL Draft Tuesday night. The Holy Names grad was chosen behind Damien Alford who was a wide receiver at Utah after spending four seasons at Syracuse and is the highest drafted Lancer in program history.
"I'm fired up to go to Hamilton," Veresuk told Powerplay Sports. "Can't wait to get to work. It was the place I was hoping for so I'm over the moon right now. Going to enjoy tonight then back to work tomorrow."

The standout made significant strides in Windsor earning two OUA All-Star selections and recording 160 tackles during his four year career including 48 tackles last fall placing him fifth in the OUA.
His play caught the attention of NFL teams. At the University of Buffalo's pro day, he recorded a 4.47-second 40-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-4-inch broad jump, and 27 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. These numbers would have ranked him among the top linebackers at the 2025 NFL Combine. His performance led to meetings with five NFL teams.
The Indianapolis Colts are bringing him in for their rookie mini camp next week.
