The Windsor Minor U18 team took a break from their pre-season preparations to give back to the community last weekend at the Capri Pizzeria Recreation Complex. Six players from the team volunteered to hand out shirts to younger age groups, earning praise from their head coach and smiles from the kids.
"It's always good to give back," said head coach George Voros in an interview with Powerplay Sports. "I've been really impressed because they've actually talked to people instead of being buried in their phones. It's been good."

The players embraced the experience, enjoying their time connecting with the young hockey crop. "It was amazing," said forward Shevin Andrews. "Even though they were nervous and scared to come up to us, they still gave us a nice smile because they enjoy and love hockey."
The event was also a chance for the U18 players to reflect on their own early hockey memories. "Just to see how I was at a young age and wanting to get on the ice and have fun—I think I could see that on their faces too," added Andrews, who first laced up skates at four years old.
Right winger Daniel Coll recalled his own excitement as a young player. "This whole arena looked different. The U18's looked like grown men. Grabbed the jersey and just fell in love with the sport. It was awesome."
With the regular season set to begin Friday, October 3rd at Memorial Arena in Chatham, and three tournaments on the schedule, Coach Voros is looking forward to the months ahead.
"The league is very competitive," he said. "It's gonna be a fun season. We'll see how it goes."
And if the recent community event is any sign, the Windsor U18s are not only ready to compete—but to lead by example, both on and off the ice.
