Wolves win OFSAA bronze

North Star Wolves sr. girls head volleyball coach was thrilled with the outcome of their

OFSAA AA tournament this week. "Our tournament was absolutely fantastic." said Jeff Miller.

The #4 Wolves went 6-1 knocking off #5 Sir Winston Churchill in the quarterfinals before losing to top-seeded Beatrice-Desloges of Orleans, Ontario 3-0.

"We obviously did not get the result we wanted in the semi final but they were the best team in the tournament and eventual Gold medalists." said Miller.

North Star faced #3 London Oakridge in the bronze medal match losing the first set before winning three straight to claim 3rd overall in the tournament.

"We finished the season 28-3 while Lauren Essenpreis finished off the season and the bronze medal match with a bomb for her 34th kill of the match," said Miller whose team battled through injuries this season and still came away with a provincial medal. "The season was challenging from the start as we had to navigate many changes. We've had to adapt all year and find a way to succeed with what we had. It seemed to help us in the long run as we were able to play a much better team game than our opponents."

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
