Windsor, ON — Training camp is underway for the Windsor Spitfires, and a spotlight is shining brightly on forward Ethan Belchetz who enters his sophmore season.
After a strong rookie campaign, the 6'5" power forward is back and looking to take another step forward this season.
"You're always trying to get better every year so I'm super excited for this year. I really can't wait to get going." Belchetz told Powerplay Sports.

Using a mix of size, skill, and physicality Belchetz made his presence known last season as a regular on a team that finished second in the Western Conference and third overall in the OHL.
A season-ending injury in the second-to-last game before the playoffs put a disappointing end to the year for the Oakville native, but it didn't shake his determination.
"As soon as the ankle got 100% I was there for Hlinka camp. I was ready to go for that." said Belchetz who had a standout tournament at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Czechia and Slovakia earlier this month.
The 6'5 power forward had four goals and three assists in five games placing him among the top scorers in the tournament. "It was such a fun experience. It's so much fun whenever you get to put on the leaf," Belchetz said. "It's awesome coming back from injury and having a good tournament. It's really good for the confidence especially going into the season. It means a lot."
The effort likely raised Belchetz's profile entering his draft-eligible year. He has the tools to become a dominant force in the OHL this season and one of the top names to watch ahead of the NHL Draft next year.
"A year later. Wiser and stronger. His exceptional play at the Worlds this summer shows he will be a top NHL pick." said Spitfires GM Bill Bowler.
