Belle River to Host U13A OHFs, Raising Funds for Fight Like Mason Foundation

Belle River is set to host the prestigious U13A Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Championships, kicking off on April 18th — and the hometown team is heading into the tournament on a high note, both on and off the ice.

With an impressive season record of 52 wins, 8 losses, and 10 ties, the Jr. Canadiens have already secured major victories this year, including titles as Bluewater Champions, Preston International Tournament Champions, and Storm Classic Tournament Champions.

They are turning their attention to winning more games while making a difference in the community. The tournament is expected to generate approximately $7,000 in proceeds, all of which will be donated to the Fight Like Mason Foundation, a local charity dedicated to improving treatment, care, and research for children fighting cancer.

This isn’t the team’s first step into community giving — earlier this season, players participated in Belle River’s Holiday Moonlight Madness event, collecting donations for the Winter Coat Drive, showcasing their commitment to giving back off the ice as well.

"We're incredibly proud of what these young athletes have accomplished, not just in the rink, but in the community," said head coach Eric Larue. "Hosting the OHFs here in Belle River is an exciting opportunity to bring people together, celebrate hockey, and support an amazing cause."

The tournament begins April 18th at the Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore. The Jr. Canadiens open against Woodstock at 10:30
