Free continues to win

Carter Free continues to dominate the college cross country scene winning the Fanshawe Invitational in London. The Napenee native dominated the men's 8km race finishing in 24 minutes and 29 seconds which was over a minute faster than the next closest runner.

"I've been running very strong up at the front and it's a great confidence booster coming into the championship races with such great races" said the St. Clair rookie.

Free has won two college meets, a dual meet with the University of Windsor and finished 5th at the Bill Salter Invitational in London in September against University runners.

"Carter is dominating the competition and we have not given him the green light to run a full race yet....(Saturday) we him back for 3km" said Saints head coach Paul Boots.

Tyler Jones crossed the line in fifth while Rick Nepomuceno placed seventh as St. Clair finished second in the team standings. The women finished 3rd overall as Mya Palumbo led the team with a 9th place finish.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
