The St. Clair College men’s baseball team is trading bats for boots

The St. Clair College men’s baseball team is stepping off the field and into the community this winter. The Saints will take part in Windsor’s Coldest Night of the Year walk on February 28, raising funds for the Downtown Mission.

The team has already topped $1,000 in donations as they prepare for the five-kilometre event supporting people facing homelessness and hunger.

Head coach Tristan Bouchat says giving back is part of the program’s identity. “Our city supports us. This is our chance to support the city.”

The offseason initiative also keeps players connected while strengthening team culture. First baseman Ryan Querbach says the cause brings extra meaning to their time together: “It’s bigger than baseball.”

The Downtown Mission has raised more than $36,000 toward its $125,000 goal.
