Herman barely clips Kennedy

Fans were treated to an entertaining high school football game Friday night at Windsor Stadium as Kennedy hosted Herman in a battle of undefeated teams. The Clippers led 8-2 in the second quarter on a touchdown by Levon Pierce. A John Cartier 6-yard run gave the Griffins a 9-8 lead heading into halftime. The Clippers defence came out to hit and their physical play led to a third quarter safety and a 10-9 lead.

It looked as though that score would hold up but a play call late in the 4th cost the home team. The Clippers were facing a 3rd and one from their 29 yard line. Kennedy chose to go for it instead of punting the ball. The play failed to gain the yard and Herman took over on downs with great field position. The Griffs got a field goal to make it 12-10. Tai Calcohoun put the game out of hand with a 28-yard touchdown as Herman escaped with an 18-10 win. The Green Machine moves to 4-0 while The Clippers drop to 3-1.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
