Ariana Hudson is taking her talents south of the border. The 17-year-old St. Joseph’s student-athlete and Forest Glade softball standout has committed to play for the Northwood University Timberwolves in Midland, Michigan — an NCAA Division II program.

Hudson is entering her 10th year in the sport, beginning in T-Ball with the Forest Glade Falcons, where she played through the 17U level before finishing her travel club career with the Detroit Bees/MRT.
“No matter what league or program you come from, remember that your starting point doesn’t define you. Your effort, your consistency, and your belief in yourself does,” Hudson told Powerplay Sports.

Her connection with Northwood began during the recruitment process when head coach Gregg Suave, who became the winningest coach in program history in 2025, invited her to a prospect camp.
“He especially loved that I’m a left-handed pitcher and a power hitter and thought I’d be an asset to his softball program,” Hudson explained. “Academically, they have an excellent sports management program, and I will be receiving my Master’s in Business in four years through their accelerated program.”
Hudson says the campus and culture sealed her decision. “I fell in love with the campus. It’s very beautiful and feels like home. As for the team, I love the culture.”
She has accepted a four-year academic and athletic scholarship with the Timberwolves.
