High School girls hockey kickstart tournament (photo gallery)

Villanova hosted a six-team girls high school hockey tournament Tuesday at the Vollmer Complex in LaSalle. The Wildcats were joined by North Star, Sandwich, Essex, St. Anne and Chatham's Ursuline College. Each team suited up for three games.

Villanova's Avery Grubb enjoyed being back on the ice after losing at SWOSSA last season. The Wildcats are hosting the boys and girls OFSAA tournament in March and Grubb looks forward to being part of a team that is a year older and focused on competing well.

"It feels good. I love the atmosphere of playing high school hockey." Grubb told Powerplay Sports. "We've got some good novice players coming up this year. I think it helps us build connections doing this tournament.
