High School playoff preview

  1. Catholic Central undefeated

  2. Windsor Islamic wants another shot a Lajeunesse

  3. Holy Names-Villanova rematch

Catholic Central has done a complete turnaround from last year's winless season going 10-0 during the regular season. They are the #2 seed and won't get the first round bye. Riverside gets the top seed and a couple of extra days off after finishing 6-3 in the top tier. They host Kingsville Tuesday at 5:30.

After a shaky start that saw them lost three of their first four games, Windsor Islamic came back to finish the season strong winning five of their last six games to finish 6-4 in the AA division.

They open the second season Tuesday afternoon in the A bracket against against UMEI who went 0-10 this season. A finalist a year ago, Windsor Islamic is hoping to get another shot at defending A champs from E.J. Lajeunesse who went 7-2 in the 3A division and have a first round bye.

In sr. girls 3A volleball it's a rematch of last year's final between Holy Names and Villanova. "We played them once and it was a close match so I expect a really good match," Knight's head coach Dante DiPonio. "I think it's important to have long goals and short goals and celebrate the little ones along the way so that's been our goal since the start of the season."
