'It was a special night': Daniel Ngendabanga nets 53

It was a night to remember for Daniel Ngendabanga. The Grade 12 guard poured in 53 points against Massey as Lajeunesse held down a high-octane Mustangs offence for a 76–59 win.

"It was a special night for him, a special night for the team and the guys really rallied around him and really happy for him so that was nice to see." said Royals head coach Geoff Parent.

Daniel had nine points in the first quarter but exploded in the second with 21 points. His night included eleven three pointers.

One of his players once scored 44 points a few years but Parent says 53 is a different level. "He's shot the lights for us in the past," Parent told WindsorEssexSports.com. "He's gone through great stretches at OFSAA. He was an MVP for us at a tournament in Toronto last year. We know he can shoot the heck out of the ball and tonight was just one of those nights where everything he shot was going in."

The performance helped Lajeunesse improve to 2–0 after week one of league play. The Royals head to Chatham on Friday for a tournament before returning home Tuesday to face Catholic Central.
