Jasniewicz scores first career goal in Laj loss

The french rivalry was rekindled Thursday afternoon on the soccer pitch as Lajeunesse hosted L'Essor. Elle Beaulieu got the visitors on the board first at the 15 minute mark of the first half.

Goal scorers: Lauren Livinston, Olivia Jasniewicz, Amelie Sfalcin and Alex Smith.

Amelie Sfalcin, midway through the first, and Alex Smith early in the third made it 3-0 before Lauren Livingston sparked a Royals comeback getting Lajeunesse on the board.

Livingston continued to be a threat up front and created a golden chance for Olivia Jasniewicz at the 36 minute mark. The grade 9 player took a Livingston pass and chipped a shot over the goalkeeper to make it a one-goal game.

They pressed for the equalizer but L'Essor held on for the opening day win. Both teams went to OFSAA last season and hope to excel again this season.
