The Kennedy Clippers advanced to SWOSSA following a 60-44 win over Amherst in the WECSSAA AA final at the St. Clair Sportsplex. Clippers head coach Stephen Silvaggio wasn't pleased with the way his team was playing defensively and sat star player Alisha Murray for the third and part of the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs led 39-38 heading into the final frame thanks to a great quarter by Brynlee Ammonite, who scored 10 of her game-high 19.
Murray returned to the game with 5:20 left and the score 44-42 Clippers and immediately turned the flow of the contest. She dished to a wide open Maddy Bishop who dropped three of her 16 for the Clippers. Murray then hit a reverse layup and Kennedy never looked back.
They will now head to Wallaceburg for the game they've been hoping for all season. The Tartans beat Kennedy at the Clipperdome in the SWOSSA final a year ago.
