Maheux is the hero

In one exhilarating rush Patrick Maheux scored the biggest goal of his soccer career. He split three defenders and notched the game winner in the first overtime as Villanova upset the 6-time defending WECSSAA champs from Holy Names 1-0.

The Knights played a man down for the majority of the game following a double yellow card ejection early in the first half. Holy Names carried the play late in the second half and had opportunities to qualify for the final but Wildcats keeper Josh Savoni held down the fort and earned the clean sheet.

Villanova advances to the final and will face St. Joe's May 23rd.
