When Christian Morneau scored with 2:45 left in the game it gave the Riverside Rangers some breathing room with a 3-1 lead. Amherstburg took a timeout and then injected more drama into the U18 championship game at the 62nd Riverside Christmas Tournament.

Jackson Cole picked up a rebound and cut the deficit to one on the next shift. The Stars pushed for the equalizer but Rangers goaltender Josh Taylor held down the fort with a save in the dying moments and Riverside held on to repeat as tournament champs. "Very tight game. They're a good team. Well coached." said Morneau who was also on last year's team. "Feels great. Back to back champs. Doesn't get much better. It's a tournament we all want to win."
