Not every athlete has the chance to continue their sports journey beyond high school—but for 12 players from the Windsor Selects, that dream is becoming a reality.

The Selects, a well-respected name in Canadian youth baseball, are celebrating a standout crop that has earned the opportunity to continue their baseball careers at the post-secondary level.
Nash Driedger (Cuyahoga Community College, Tri-C), Jack Kivell (Tri-C), Sam Wirag (Ellsworth Community College), Finn Pace (Macomb Community College), Trent Rudge (Canisius University, Evan Schweyer (St. Clair College), Nate Tramontozzi (Macomb Community College), Aaron Schweyer (St. Clair College), Brady Isaac (Bryan & Stratton College), Dylan Sylva (Bryant & Stratton College), Rohan Arnold (Illinois Valley Community College), Josh Awad (St. Clair Community College) and Joel Leblanc (Ellsworth Community College) are gearing up for the next level of ball.

"I think it shows how solid our team was this year. It shows our development as an organization is getting better each year." Sam Wirag told Powerplay Sports. The pitcher is heading to the Midwest with Leblanc to throw for the Ellsworth Panthersin Iowa. "College was always on my mind with baseball."
Many are leaving town while players like Evan Scheweyer are staying home. The St. Anne Grad is suiting up for the St. Clair College Saints.

"It's gonna be tough to get a starting role especially as a freshman but I'm ready to put in the work." said Schweyer who joins a Saints team that enters the season as 4-time defending OCAA champion.
Schweyer and the Saints have a game against Alumni Tuesday at 7pm at Lacasse Park before heading to Laurier for two exhibition games against Laurier. Their season opener is September 6th against Sheridan.
