Power Pix: Spits open camp

There were quite a few people at the WFCU Centre Thursday for the opening of training camp. Many are excited for what this year may hold for the team. Head coach Greg Walters was happy to be back on the ice and liked what he saw.

"Really impressed with all the returning guys." Walters told Powerplay Sports. "Came back in great shape. Tough day for them. Rob Maggio (team trainer) put them through a tough workout."

Walters was equally impressed by how the returning players welcomed the newbies. Players took part in an on-ice practice and went through some tough drills with skating coach Kathy McIlwain.

Walters was happy with day one. "The pace was good."

Camp continues Friday at 9am with intersquad games scheduled throughout the day. The Spits have their Blue-White game set for Saturday at 4pm at the WFCU Centre.

I took some pics. Have a look.
