Spits strike quick in win over Knights

The Windsor Spitfires scored three goals in the first five minutes of the game and had the visiting London Knights playing catch up all afernoon during their 6-3 win Sunday at the WFCU Centre.

Breaking down the left side, Egor Afanasyev flipped a nice pass across the London crease to Daniel D'Amico who tapped it home at 13:28 of the second period as Windsor opened up a 5-1 lead. The Knights fired 16 shots at Spits netminder Xavier Medina in the frame and scored two late goals cutting the deficit to two goals heading into the 3rd.

The Knights pressed early but Jean-Luc Foudy's goal at 8:25 gave Windsor some breathing room as they held for the win. The Spits picked up three out of six points this weekend and are tied with London for third in the OHL's Western Conference. They trail first-place Saginaw by two points in the West Division. Tyler Angle scored twice while Egor Afanasyev had a goal and two assists to lead the Spits.
