Saints Thunder, Lightning Brings End to OFC Title Rout

WINDSOR, ON — The St. Clair College football team left no doubt about who reigns supreme in the Ontario Football Conference, cruising to a 54-0 win over the Hamilton Hurricanes to claim their fourth consecutive OFC championship on Saturday.

Quarterback Matt Guenette wasted no time, hitting Marselio Mendez with a 38-yard touchdown pass on the game's opening drive. The early strike set the tone as the Saints rolled over the Hurricanes in dominant fashion.

But as fierce as the Saints were on the field, it was the weather that ultimately brought the game to a premature end. Lightning spotted north of the city delayed play late in the third quarter. After a 30-minute pause and a 10-minute warmup, both teams prepared to resume—until two more lightning flashes sealed the game’s fate.

Officials called the game at the end of the third quarter, prompting the Saints to rush the field in celebration of another championship victory.

The decisive shutout capped a perfect season for St. Clair, further solidifying their status as the OFC’s undisputed powerhouse. They will head to British Columbia to face Okanagan next weekend. The Saints beat the Sun at Acumen Stadium a year ago to win the CJFL title.
