The Sandwich Sabres have clinched the WECSSAA Ultimate Frisbee championship, wrapping up an undefeated season and solidifying their place as a regional powerhouse.

With Ultimate Frisbee gaining traction in the area, this year's league saw participation from 17 high schools—underscoring the significance of Sandwich's achievement.

The Sabres have advanced to the OFSAA provincial tournament in Barrie starting Thursday hosted by St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School. In the inaugural season a year ago the Sabres made it to the WECSSAA final but fell short against Kingsville. This year they were determined to right the wrong and have been rewarded with a trip that'll test their improvement.
Coach Brad Hotchkiss credits the team’s success to a core group of skilled returning players, a new cohort eager to learn, and a philosophy rooted in staying present and adaptable. The Sabres are focused on taking things one game at a time and adjusting as needed.
Sandwich has also lived by the motto—Plan. Prepare. Execute.—which has clearly paid off so far.
