'They're gonna fit right in': Saints soccer adds recruits

Updated: Apr 17

Steve Vagnini is an excitable person so it's no surprise he's charged up with the addition of three recruits from out of town.

Maddie Daabous, Payton Lessard and Allie Tales are joining the Saints in September and Vagnini feels they'll push to be starters. "Absolutely. They play at a good level and have rookie eagerness," Vagnini told Powerplay Sports. "They will fit right in to an already good team."

St. Clair recently won bronze at the OCAA Indoor Soccer Championships and finished 2nd in the West Division last fall before a shocking exit in the playoffs.

Daabous is graduating from London's Saint Andre Bessette and is a 5'4 striker. Lessard is currently at Parkside Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas and is a 5'7 midfielder. Her teammate, Tales, is a 5'9 striker and won silver with League 1's London TFC in 2024.

"The minute I met these three, I knew they belonged at St. Clair," Vagnini said in a college release. "They bring talent, teamwork and work ethic to a program that thrives on those specific values."
