Tyler Pope-Ferguson lit up Roseland Golf on Saturday, carding an 8-under-par 64 on a beautiful day to take the lead after day one of the 2025 Western Ontario Amateur.
“I just played solid,” said the former Essex 73 standout. “Birdied the holes you're supposed to birdie out here. Made a couple of putts and ended up being 64. It was nice.”
Pope-Ferguson credited a steady tee-to-green game and some fortunate bounces for the round.
“Every time I hit a bad shot, it ended up being in a spot where I had a shot, so it was good. A lot of greens.”
John Drewery sits in second at 5-under, while Windsor’s Christian Morneau and Daniel Bornais are tied for third at 4-under.
The top 39 players are moving on to championship day Sunday at Beach Grove with Pope-Ferguson, Drewery, and Morneau—teeing off at 1:40 pm.
The cut off was +5 with over well over 20 locals moving on.
