Awad gets the nod as Mr. Basketball

St. Anne's guard Rocco Awad has been chosen as Mr. Basketball, by a coaches vote, in the WECSSAA Tier 1 division.
"I was very excited when I found out. The other guy I was competing against (Da'Marion Ennis of Holy Names) is really good so I'm really happy I beat him."
Rocco helped lead St. Anne to an 8-2 record and 2nd place finish. The 16-year old averaged 31 points per game during the regular season which included two games over 40 points.
The Saints host a semi-final matchup Thursday against the winner of the Massey-St. Joe's quarterfinal Tuesday.
"We got a couple of more practices before playoffs. We're all really excited and practicing really hard getting ready for the game."
The AAA final is set for Sunday, February 19th at the Toldo Recreation Complex at the University of Windsor.
