Alek Mauro and Jillian Friyia followed up tour opening wins by beating the pack a second straight time. "Overall my round was good as I hit the ball very well off the tee" said Friyia, who normally plays on the Tyson Tour in London.

She made the trek down the 401 and posted a 2-over-par 73 at Essex Wednesday.

"Made a couple of long putts. The highlight of my day was when I had back to back birdies on 12 and 13.

Friyia dropped a 20-footer on 12 and chipped it close for the up and down on 13. She has a four point lead in the overall standings over Kyla Charlevois, who shot a 78.

On the jr. boys side Alek Mauro says he played a solid round of golf as he emerged victorious for the second time this season. "Gave myself a lot of birdie opportunities" said Mauro.

"It's feels great to keep playing tournament golf and I'm grateful for another win"

The Detroit Mercy golfer made an up-and-down par on his last hole of the day from 150 yards out to save the round and finish three-under at 68. Mauro finished four shots ahead of Tyler Hurtubise.

Jasmine Ly won the Collegiate women's division for the second straight time in a tight affair against Brooke MacKinnon who was one stroke shy. Ly shot a 74.

The best score of the day on the course belonged to James Hill, who took the Collegiate men's division "I honestly didn't feel like I hit that well but I got a couple of good bounces and sometimes that's all it takes to keep the momentum in the round" said the Detroit Mercy golfer. Hill fired a 5-under par 66. He had seven birdies including a stretch of four in a row "Really fun, especially the 60-footer I made on 12.

Event number three is set for Thursday at Sutton Creek.
