Jeffery LaButte-Seage’s Journey Into Kickboxing

Updated: 6 hours ago

Jeffery LaButte-Seage still remembers what got him interested in mixed martial arts. "My cousin, when I was a young teen, showed me a UFC fight." he explained to Powerplay Sports. "It was Max Holloway vs Dustin Poirier and I asked him, 'people get paid for this?' He said, 'ya' and right from there I made my decision."

Family suggested he finish his schooling first but he decided to dive head first into the sport. "I've always felt super contained in spaces like that. I just knew there was something bigger out there for me."

In two years of competing Labutte-Seage (4-1) feels his life has changed. He trains every day and looks forward to his 6th sanctioned fight this Saturday night at the WFCU Centre at King Striking Series 5.

He'll square off against William Pancone in a rematch of KINGSS 3 where Labutte-Seage earned a hard fought decision. He wants to show the victory was not a fluke.

The 20-year old is early in his competitive career but has his sights set on being a world champ one day. "I'm surrounded by amazing talent, amazing minds that push me to new levels every day so I know exactly where I'm gonna be. I would love to have another conversation in 10 years or so and we'll see if this holds up.
