McGarity and Copland lead Riverside

Riverside has one mission this season. "All the way to the 'ship." said head coach Andrew Sulyok following their season opening 27-8 win over St. Joe's.

We didn't know what to expect but it was all about preparation and they competed in all three facets of the game. Special teams, defence, offence and I couldn't be happier about that." Sulyok said.

5th year pivot Lex McGarity (#4) is the leader of the team and showed he is as good, if not better, than his all-city performance from a year ago. He threw a 50-yard touchdown to ThaMu Kur and ran another one in from eight yards out. "He is definitely the vocal leader of the team but he also showed it with his actions today."

Dwayne Copland had a pic-6 and a 20-yard touchdown for the Stingers. Powerplay's Anthony Scalzo caught up with the "Dwayne Train" following the game.

Riverside takes on Massey September 28th at 7:30. St. Joe's plays L'Essor the next night at Sandwich.
