update: Herman 2-0 at OFSAA

The opening game of OFSAA was a high scoring affair for the Herman Green Griffins. Kimani Morgan scored a tournament high 42 points Tuesday afternoon in Essex to lead the Griffins to an 87-83 win over London South in Essex.

The Grifs broke open a tight game in the second quarter outscoring South 32-21 but game the points back in the third as London held Herman to 10 points while scoring 22.

In the end Morgan was too hot to handle as the 6th seeded Griffins headed to Belle River Tuesday morning to face the 9th seeded Thousand Islands Secondary School. Morgan picked up where he left off and dropping 32 points on the Brockville school in an 82-77 game. The Griffs will play the winner of this afternoon's game between Our Lady of Lourdes (#8) and Joan of Arc (#3) Tuesday night at 6:30 at the St. Clair Sportsplex.

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
