The Windsor Stars senior baseball team got a good battle from the Tecumseh Thunder in the Can-Am final Monday night. The Stars found themselves trailing 5-4 in the 4th inning but a one-out bases clearing triple by Tony Dufour was a game changer. Windsor held the lead and went on to win 12-5 and repeat as champs.
"Tecumseh is always tough." said head coach Ron Smith who feels playing meaningful games a couple of weeks after winning the provincial title is a big help for his team. "I don't know why we never did this in the past. I'm hoping we do it in the future."
Prior to the pandemic the final was always played before the provincial tournament.
The national tournament begins August 26th with Windsor playing the Alberta champions at 6:30.
