Admirals win first game back

Josh Courtney made 28 saves to backstop the Amherstburg Admirals to a 3-2 over the Wheatley Sharks Sunday night at the Libro Centre.

Brandon Salvati gave the Admirals some breathing room 9:37 of the third making it 3-1. With 16 seconds left in the game Dallas Anderson cut the lead with his 18th of the season but the Sharks couldn't notch the equalizer. Tylor Fraser and Mitchell Demelo added singles for Amherstburg while Matt Carvalho scored the other goal for Wheatley.

The 4th place Admirals have won five of their last six games dating back to December 15th and moved their overall record to 14-11. The Sharks remain in 6th in the Stobbs division dropping to 9-12-0-1.


Next Up: Amherstburg hosts Wallaceburg Sunday, February 13th at 3pm. Wheatley welcomes Essex Wednesday at 7:30

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.  

​​​​

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.
