Cool shots

Here are some cool shots shared by Windsor-Essex sports teams from the long weekend.

The first pic features the Leamington Lakers Rookie U8 and U9 teams. Each went 5-0 to win Green and Gold tournament in LaSalle and shared their excitement afterwards.

Windsor's Sebastien Gervais brought the Memorial Cup around town during his team of celebration. Gervais is a left winger for the Saginaw Spirit who helped the franchise win its first ever championship in a thrilling 4-3 win over the London Knights in June. One of the things Gervais did with the cup is take a stroll along the riverfront to the Ambassador Bridge for an epic shot.

Here is a shot of one of the Riverside Minor Baseball's 7U Select teams showing what team sport is about. This picture was taken at a diamond in Ancaster at the World T-Ball tournament.

And finally, the Forest Glade sr. boys baseball team had a little fun learning the art of barbering on their coach. They were given the opportunity after securing the top spot during the Day of Champions. One has to wonder if they are uniting as a team for a pic or covering up the job they did.

"Another great resource for local sports produced by a person that has been invested in local sports for decades."

This is why...

Powerplay Sports was born while on a trip to Italy in the summer of 2018. Walking through a charming pedestrian underpass reminded me of being in the tunnel at the University of Michigan in the early part of my career. That feeling led to thoughts of Windsor Lancers football camp opening in three weeks and all of the fall sports that weren't going to be covered because of cuts to local sports coverage by legacy media.

With the support of a loving wife and family, I decided to create Powerplay Sports as a passion project.

I've come across some great people who have helped capture the essence of our community throughout the years like Tony Techko, Tony Doucette, Scott Scantlebury, Dom Papa, Steve Bell, Will Hill, Jim Parker and Mary Caton to name a few.

Please spread the word and follow along here or on social media so we can continue having the priviledge of highlighting our athletes, our community.
